Hey there, welcome :)
My name is Dean, and I am a white, queer and trans non-binary, neurodivergent therapist living with chronic illness. My practice’s core values are feminist, decolonial, ecological, and expressive.
I am currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), working at a queer and neurodivergent affirming group practice called Therapy UnScripted. I bring to my psychotherapy practice 15+ years of playwriting, performing, and producing downtown radical theatre in NYC. I am also an arts educator, teaching writing and visual art ages 3-19 in NYC and Los Angeles. My parents were meditation teachers (I have been meditating since 1985), along with studying the teachings of Mata Amritanandamayi in her home in Kerala, India. Respectively, I have also lead a series of mindfulness workshops including; meditation, introduction to reading the Akashic Records, Reiki, Non-Binary Faerie Circles (adults), and Fairy School (children).
My passion is supporting fellow queer and trans folx including Gen Z and their families, “late in life” queers, and neurodivergent curious.
My work is LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC inclusive using mindfulness to deepen your relationship with yourself and others. As an anti-oppressive therapist; non-binary thinking and exploring boundaries are foundational to my work. We may play, draw, talk, use ritual, explore queerness, absurdism, or dumb jokes as ways to decenter whiteness and pains of modernity.
Clients I work with are professional artists, activists, academics, performers, queer, trans, and tender people seeking support during major revelations and stressors in their lives. As a therapist and professional artist, I love bringing in the complexities of multiple identities as a practice of authenticity.
My view of therapy is that we move as fellow travelers, and I hold the lantern and snack pack for your journey.
